4 Proven Ways to Increase Blog Traffic After Publishing New Content

There are literally millions of blog posts get published every single day.

If you’re someone who thinks you can build a high traffic blog by creating contents day-in and day out, you’re absolutely wrong.

Yes, you need to create solid content. But you also need to find great promotion strategies to bring more exposure to your newly published content.

Here are a few incredible ways to bring a ton of visitors to your site after publishing new blog posts in 2019.

Let’s get started!

4 Proven Ways to Increase Your Blog’s Traffic In 2019

1. Search Engine Optimization: The Power of SEO

Hands down, the best free way to get a ton of visitors to your site after publishing content on your blog is to use the power of SEO.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is what helps you generate highly qualified visitors to your site. If you’re ignoring SEO, you’re making a huge mistake because search engine traffic sends potential visitors who convert better when compared to other traffic sources.

That said, here are few ways you can fully utilise the power of SEO to drive more traffic to your sites in 2019.

Find low Competitive Keywords

If you have a new site with low authority, go for low competitive keywords with less monthly searches. You can’t simply rank for short tail or high competitive keywords although they can send you the most amount of traffic from search engines.

The key here is to choose long tail keywords which contain more than 4 to 5 keywords. For example, it’s much easier to rank for a low competitive keyword like “best spending tracker apps for teens” instead of targeting a broad keyword term like “spending trackers”.

Just check out the below illustration from SEMrush to understand the difference between short vs long tail keywords.

You can use the following tools to find low competitive keywords.

  • Ubersuggest (a great free tool by Neil Patel)
  • Keywordtool.io
  • SEMrush (we often use SEMrush to find highly profitable and low competitive keywords, it’s a premium tool which is worth every penny you pay for)
  • Ahrefs (another excellent premium tool)

Optimize your Content like a Pro

On-Page optimization is all about optimizing your individual posts and pages in order to rank higher in search engines like Google. To put it simply, finding keywords is one thing and optimizing your content for your target keywords is another important thing.

If you want to optimize your content like a pro, here are a few places where you can put your primary keywords.

  • Title tag
  • Meta description
  • URL
  • Subheadings such as h2, h3, etc
  • Throughout your content sparingly

You can go through this detailed post on SEO tutorial for beginners if you want to find a few more solid tips on increasing your search traffic.

Note: You can also use WordPress plugins like WordPress SEO by Yoast or Rank Math to easily optimize your blog contents such as posts and pages to include your primary keywords to get more search traffic.

Attract links

Once you’re done with the above two steps, you should focus on attracting quality and highly relevant links to your content to get top rankings. Whether you know it or not, Google considers backlinks as positive votes and ranks the pages accordingly.

So the chances of getting into top 3 search results for any keyword will be high if your page has high quality and relevant links pointing to it. Here are a few ways you can attract links to your pages.

  • Guest posting for others (we’re going to cover about it in the next section)
  • Blogger outreach
  • Using Skyscraper technique
  • Broken Link Building
  • Creating relevant sites so you can cross-link to each other (don’t overdo it!)

You can also read our advanced guide on link building to find a few insider link building strategies anyone can use to attract high-quality links.

2. Write Guest Posts for Others

Guest posting is not dead. It’s still working like a charm as we usually create at least 2 to 3 guest posts every month. No matter what industry you are in if you want to get more traffic to your site after publishing new posts, write guest posts for other relevant blogs.

Here are some of the biggest benefits of writing guest posts for others.

  • Helps you connect with other bloggers in your niche (this is far more important than just building links)
  • Generate targeted traffic to your site
  • Helps you get contextual and highly relevant links (as most people allow you to include at least one link to your site)
  • Guest posting helps you generate email subscribers, leads and even sales if done right
  • They help you establish yourself as an authority and boost your online brand as a blogger

That being said, here are a few things you should remember while writing guest posts for others.

  • Don’t pitch average quality or mediocre guest posts (even if such thin quality get published on other sites, you won’t see any quality traffic to your site).
  • Instead, take time to craft high quality and in-depth guest posts that actually add value to their audience. We usually create 2000 word guest posts and spend a lot of time to write guest posts for others. That’s why they usually get more traffic, attract links and shares.
  • Don’t write guest posts only for links. Do it for building relationships and you’ll earn links naturally. If you’re doing it only for links, your guest posts won’t be informative and people feel that you’re doing only for link building.

Let’s now talk about how to write great guest posts which can land on any blog in your industry.

Analyze their top performing content:

The first step to write a high-quality guest post for other blogs is to analyze their best performing contents.

You can go through their archives, read their most popular blog posts section (or most commented), or use tools like Buzzsumo or SEMrush to find their popular content.

Create on Similar lines:

Once you have an idea of what type of content works well for a blog, create content on a similar topic (by using a unique angle).

For example, if “best fitness apps” is one of the top performing blog posts on a blog where you want to publish your guest posts, you can write something around “fitness apps for women”, “fitness apps for iPhone” etc (also make sure such contents haven’t yet published on their blogs).

Write high-quality in-depth contents:

Gone are the days where you can produce 500-word guest posts. Ever since the long form of content started ranking well, most bloggers are now accepting only high-quality posts.

So write in-depth contents with around 1500 to 2000 words and don’t fill them with fluff just because you need to publish a long form of content.

Namedrop others:

This is one of the less-known tips for writing successful guest posts that convert. Whenever you’re writing a guest post, mention other blogger’s name or article (or even a video).

You can later ask them to share or link to your stuff or even tell them that you want to write guest posts. It works like a charm, so give it a try!

3. Facebook Groups

Facebook is the biggest social media platform with over a billion active users. Whether you agree on it or not, Facebook groups can be used for promoting your latest blog posts.

But here’s the thing. Don’t join a group to solely promote your posts. It’s a waste of time. Instead, follow these tips to use Facebook groups to build a community around your blog.

Find and join “highly relevant groups” which are active

Here’s one important thing you need to remember while joining Facebook groups: join only those groups which are active and where you can see the highest user engagement.

It doesn’t matter how big a Facebook group is. You can get more exposure if you join groups where people actively participate in particular topics.

 Become a “Rising Star”

Facebook groups show up a badge called “rising star” where the newcomers are most active. Instead of joining hundreds of groups, join a handful of groups and start actively participating in them to become a rising star.

Not only it encourages you to become more active but also admins might consider making you as a moderator so you can post even better stuff (by also promoting your own content when it makes sense).

Promote Others

One of the best ways to engage with other bloggers through Facebook groups is to promote others blog posts, videos, and links. Make sure to tag whenever you are promoting others contents so they will get notified.

If you do it constantly, they will also reciprocate the same thing by promoting your stuff as well sooner or later.

That’s the key to successful blog promotion using Facebook groups. It works way better than self-promotion. If you want others to share your stuff, start sharing their stuff first. It’s as simple as that.

4. Use Quora to Establish Authority, Drive More Traffic And Build Links

If you’re a blogger and not using Quora yet, you’re making a big mistake. Quora is the #1 platform where millions of active users ask questions and get answers.

Quora can help you with more traffic, build authority and get links to your site really quickly. Even if you’re building a new site (for example, we recently launched HostingMonks for web hosting solutions) to get more links, increase exposure and bring more traffic. Here are a few powerful ways to use Quora to increase your traffic in 2019.

Find the right questions to answer

Immediately after joining on Quora, start finding questions that you can answer easily. Don’t go for questions where you need to research. You need to make it extremely easy if you’re trying a new platform. That’s why it works great to answer only those questions where you can write answers without much hassle.

Here’s how it looks like;

Quora traffic

Write really helpful answers

There’s only one way you can get more out of Quora and that is to write really helpful answers to your target audience. Make sure to spend at least 30 minutes to 1 hour to write an amazing answer (don’t copy-paste from your own blog articles).

And don’t write short answers and then link to your own blog posts (to tell your Quora readers to read further, which is a mistake).

Instead, you can write a long and helpful answer with all the images and screenshots if needed and then link back to your original post (if they liked your answer, they will definitely check it out). It also helps you build your own following on Quora and you can easily stand out with your answers that way.

Reach Out to Other Bloggers

One of the best ways to use Quora is to network with other bloggers. You can find and follow bloggers in your industry who are already on Quora and make sure to upvote and comment on those Quora answers which you find useful.

Final Thoughts On Free Ways to Promote Your Blog for More Traffic

There are a ton of ways to get more traffic to your new blog posts but the key here is to spend more time actively outside of your blog. Content creation is one thing and promotion is another thing. The more time you spend promoting your content, the better results you will get.

Build relationships, not links especially when you’re using tactics like guest posting. So what are your thoughts on increasing blog traffic? Share your thoughts in the comments.
