SkySilk Review | Managed Cloud Hosting Provider

There is no doubt that the internet has a lot to offer when it comes to VPS hosting. There are quite a few companies out there including Digital Ocean, Vultr, and Linode to name a few. But one large question about all these companies, given that they’re similar, in which one is the best web hosting provider out there?

Well, let us introduce you to the SkySilk. Seems like a new name, right? It is one of the recently-launched companies which can offer you VPS hosting at one of the most affordable prices.

Skysilk uses open source applications and has built it’s a platform upon enterprise hardware so they can offer their customers an easy experience.

Introduction: SkySilk

As mentioned earlier, skysilk is one of the newest platforms in the field of VPS hosting. The company has gained recognition very quickly by offering effective and reliable cloud services – and at an affordable rate starting at just $1/month.

One can use Skysilk for a variety of needs which include, hosting your website, APIs, web apps, or simply as a private cloud storage solution with one-click apps like NextCloud or OwnCloud.

However, in order to dive a bit further into SkySilk’s platform, let us mention some of the top features.

Top Features of SkySilk:

Friendly 24/7 support:

The very first thing that we have liked about Skysilk is that they offer fast & reliable support services. Cloud servers can be difficult to manage as a newcomer and it’s never expected to have a working knowledge of every aspect.

Fortunately, SkySilk offers a knowledge base full of support articles to help get you started with your VPS. In addition, You can also contact the support team members directly at any time with a ticket – these have a 4-hour average resolution time.

Easy-to-use platform:

The SkySilk deployment process is designed in a way that all you need to do is select your pre-configured template and hit go.

These range from clean Linux OS distros like Ubuntu, CentOS, and Debian, to Apps like Node.js, WordPress, GitLab, and many more.

Your selected software will be pre-installed and configured on your VPS, leaving your environment in a ready-to-use state instantly after deployment.

Rewards program:

SkySilk is also the only cloud platform that has a rewards program. It helps you to earn what are called “SkyPoints” every time you make a purchase through SkySilk.

These points can be used towards account credit and/or pre-paid select Visa, Best Buy, and Amazon gift cards.

Root access:

Every hosting plan gives you root access to your cloud server with the ability to both enable password login, or strictly use SSH.

Though it is always recommended to create a new user account on your server, having this feature enabled gives you more control over your cloud environment so you can focus on your work instead of dealing with permissions.

Skysilk Hosting Pricing:

Skysilk is extremely affordable when it comes to pricing. You can start as low as $1/month and also use the premium hosting tier for as little as $5/month.

Each pricing tier gives you access to more than a dozen different VPS hosting plans, allowing for more flexible options for your servers.

SilkSky Review – The Best Cloud Service Provider?

Before writing this review, we tried Skysilk to host one of our websites, and so far the result has been smooth with no issues. First of all, it has a user-friendly interface which helped us to figure out what we need for our website.

However, one thing to note is that SkySilk is an unmanaged VPS provider, meaning that you are in full control of your server.

Because of this, using the platform may be difficult for beginners at first, though knowing just a few Linux commands should help get you on your way.

If you are interested in learning more about hosting websites, creating apps, and more, you can also visit SkySilk’s blog which is full of detailed tutorials on cloud hosting and development.

In the end, the pricing is what that amazed us. We did not believe that any company out there would be offering a VPS server for as little as $1/month. Yet, after trying SkySilk, we are really impressed with our server speeds for the price.

Another aspect to consider with SkySilk is free backups & snapshots. When you host your website with say, Digital Ocean, you need to pay $1 extra for the backup, and the minimum plan costs you $6 each month.

But on the other hand, Skysilk’s Standard and Premium plans offer you free backups, and they start at $2 and $5 monthly, making SkySilk a nice DigitalOcean alternative.

But we won’t say there is no con to SkySilk. A few things to consider – The basic plan does not offer a greater system of support and you will find a little delay in their response since premium members are placed on priority.

Another aspect is the limited amount of locations. Currently, SkySilk only has data center locations in Los Angeles, US, and New York, US – though they do have plans to expand in the near future.

Wrapping Up:

So we are done with the skysilk review. In the end, all we would say that they have some of the great features and their price can fit within just about any budget.

The features and overall performance of their hosting plans at this cost create for a great cloud environment to begin, test and deploy your projects. If you have any questions feel free to comment below.
