MX Player App Review | Best Video Player for Android
I have been using Android for the last 8 years and this is the only movie player that I have on my phone. MX Player app is undoubtedly the best video player app that I have used in all these years of the smartphone.
Being an Android fanboy, downloading new apps from the Play Store is one of my hobbies. However, I have never actually downloaded other apps to replace this app because it has pretty much sufficed my requirements for a video player.
Let’s check out more about the MX Player app, why it’s my favorite, which are my top features and where you can download it.
MX Player App Review
The first thing that you should know about MX Player is it’s available for FREE! MX Player is also an Editor’s Choice app; you know you have the best app when it’s recommended by the Editors.
The app magnifies simplicity i.e. browsing your video files on the app is as easy as pie and the UI has been designed so simply that any Android beginner can use it. The best part is, the newly added files are automatically added to your list without having to refresh it manually.
MX Player is a pretty cool app. One tap and you can get rid of all the on-screen buttons and vice-versa. The on-screen ‘Lock’ button definitely comes handy when you want to watch a video undisturbed or give your phone to anyone and want to make sure they don’t loiter. The Zoom in and Zoom out feature via Pin and Pan also comes in handy in certain cases.
The Background audio playback (can be enabled in Settings) is very useful when you just want to hear the audio of the particular video and not watch it. It’s pretty useful for new music albums that have just been launched or for situations when something inappropriate pops up suddenly.
This Video Player App has another feature which may or may not be very useful for you, but it sure is for me. Whenever I have to quit a video midway, it always asks to resume or start over again. The resume feature is how most online streaming websites work. It’s not a very notable feature, but it sure does reduce a lot of effort from my end.
The overall performance of MX Player is smooth; special mention of hardware acceleration and multi-core decoding for this utility. Multi-core decoding allows devices with dual core to perform up to 70% as compared to single-core devices.
In terms of video formats, MX supports almost every popular formats out there – AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, MOV, MP4, MPEG, WebM, WMV, Xvid, etc.
However, if you still go ahead and play an unsupported format, MX Player app will ask you to download free codec pack to successfully play the video. Ain’t that sweet?
This Android Player app supports these subtitle formats – DVD, DVB, SSA/ASS subtitle tracks, SubStation Alpha (.ssa/.ass) will full styling, SAMI (.smi) with Ruby support, SubRip (.srt), MicroDVD (.sub), VobSub (.sub/.idx), SubViewer2.0 (.sub), MLP2 (.mpl), TMPlayer (.txt), Teletext, PJS (.pjs) and WebVTT (.vtt).
You can also search for videos of the video that your playing from opensubtitles.org. Interestingly, the app also allows to move the subtitles, zoom it or even change it’s speed if it runs ahead or behind the actual video.
That’s not all, if you provide MX Player with the accurate URL, they can actually stream your video directly from any Cloud storage.
MX Player App Download
MX Player app for Android can be downloaded from Google Play Store. Besides me, there are over 65 lakh more Android users who have given the MX Player app a cumulative rating of 4.5 Stars.
MX Player app has crossed 500 million downloads in June 2018. The app was last updated on 24th August 2018 (as of today).
One of the reasons why this app is my favorite is because the developers keep sending regular updates to keep your MX Player latest update at par with other video player app! Many app developers miss out on sending regular updated.
MX Player Pro
MX Player Pro lets you enjoy the app Ad free at the price of Rs. 370 only! The best thing is, there’s no extra functional benefit while using the MX Player Pro version. This message has been given by the app developers on the Play Store page where MX Player Pro is listed. If you still want to go ahead and get this app, download it from Play Store. If you want multiple payment options, head over to their website and get it!
